In 2001, Dr. (Mrs.) Seinye O.B. Lulu-Briggs established the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation in the name of her beloved husband, High Chief (Dr.) O.B. Lulu-Briggs, OON, DCF, DSSRS, (1930-2018), to honor, celebrate and institutionalize his legendary, giving. His love and commitment to humanity shone through his charitable and philanthropic acts which equipped, empowered, and enabled people – particularly the most vulnerable and under-served – to live full, purposeful, and dignified lives. He also donated buildings and supported institutions that educate, care for, and secure people’s spiritual and material well-being in the Niger Delta, across Nigeria and around the world. This inspired our mission, which is to implement sustainable interventions that enhance the quality of life for under-served persons. We carry out interventions that have an immediate positive impact on the quality of the lives and livelihoods of those in absolute need through five programmes:
ABOUT US
PARTNERSHIPS
We credit our success over the past 18 years to the direct and open manner in which we engage with the communities we serve and the partnerships we foster with them to implement programmes. Partnerships have enabled us to innovate and to adapt and establish best practices in the implementation of our programmes. We believe that this approach inspires hope and inclusivity that leads to transformation in the communities where people live in difficult material conditions but have so much to share and contribute to improving their lives and livelihoods. Our successes have attracted volunteers, medical and non-medical, who work shoulder to shoulder with us across our programme areas. It has also drawn individual and corporate partners to make in-kind and cash donations to our work. They include; Moni Pulo Limited, Meridian Hospitals, Acron Medical Consultants, Sterling Hospital, Roche Diabetic Care, Kalabari National Association- US Chapter, Rivers State University Teaching Hospital and the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. While we will in the coming years actively seek partnerships for greater impact, we are proud of the positive contributions we have been able to achieve as a result of our grand benefactor, High Chief (Dr.) O. B. Lulu-Briggs’ boundless generosity which, with God’s grace, will continue to enable his Foundation’s work for humanity.
NIGER DELTA
Most of our work is in the Niger Delta, Nigeria’s oil-producing region – an area which paradoxically is experiencing chronic underdevelopment, environmental degradation and oil related conflict and insecurity. Living conditions are dire; communities lack access to proper healthcare and education, clean water and sanitation. Livelihood opportunities are limited, and unemployment is widespread, particularly amongst youth.
